We’re big fans of old school Italian Beef sandwiches in our family. Especially when the Italian beef is slow-cooked and melt-in-your-mouth good. In fact, we are on a family quest to check out all of Chicago’s best Italian Beef stands!
This recipe is our easy weeknight version—and adds sweet peppers and tangy banana peppers to make it extra special. It’s also great to serve for a game day celebration or a casual family get together. Leave it warming in the slow cooker with a basket of fresh hoagie rolls by the side and let guests serve themselves. Enjoy!
Slow Cooker Italian Beef Sandwiches
Serves 6-8 people
- 1 jar of Gargano & Co.’s Classic Tomato Sauce
- 2 1/2 lbs of Boneless Beef Chuck Roast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 Red pepper
- 1 Green pepper
- 1/2 cup of Jarred Banana Peppers (with juices from jar included)
Sprinkle beef roast on all sides with salt + pepper and place in slow cooker. Slice red and green peppers and place on top of roast then pour jar of Gargano & Co. Classic Tomato Sauce over top. Pour in banana peppers with juice the cover the slow cooker and simmer on high for approximately 6-7 hours. Please note that this cooking time may vary based on your particular slow cooker. Cook until the meat is falling apart and tender–perfect for sandwiches. Serve with hoagie rolls for a fun casual meal. We think a cold beer goes well with this too!
